ABOUT DAWN ANNA
Dawn Anna is a teacher, a coach, but, most importantly, a mom. As a single parent in Littleton, Colorado, she raised her four children, Matt, Kristin, Josh and Lauren.
A 2005 movie on her life entitled Dawn Anna starred Debra Winger in the title role and earned Ms Winger an Emmy nomination for Best Actress. An outspoken opponent of assault weapons, Dawn has appeared on such shows as Dateline, 60 Minutes II, The Today Show, CBS Early Show, Oprah and Rosie O’Donnell. She guest speaks at colleges, schools, seminars, and also spoke at the 2000 Democratic National Convention as well as the 2000 and 2004 Million Mom Marches. She traveled to Japan in the fall of 2005 to join with families there to unite for victims rights and legislation. After working to build the Columbine Memorial and see its opening in September, 2007, she has been focusing on fundraising for Lauren’s memorial fund which to date has awarded over $200,000 in student scholarships and grants to wildlife foundations. |
